Is it ok that my ferret only eats dry ferret food?

I have tried feeding her other things including chicken(which I have read most ferrets love) but she does not seem to want to eat anything other than the dry food. I was wondering if it’s bad for her to only be eating this or should a complete dry food diet be enough. I am currently feeding her 8in1 Ultra Blend Select.

If it has 32-40% protein and 18-20% fat it should be fine but try to throw in some variety.

See if it likes feeder mice. Mine like those and day old chicks. Check out your local pet store and ask about them. As long as you’re not only feeding Marshals diet you are fine.

Try Totally Ferret, it’s a much better food for her. Or you can go with Evo Cat food (it’s the best cat food, other cat foods are NOT okay for ferrets).

Feeding chicken can be tricky. Also make sure if you feed meat only, that you need to make sure you have a ratio of bones to meat and organs to meat (they can’t just eat meat only). Otherwise they get deficiencies and die.

They need to eat "whole prey" which means the whole item. So instead of feeding just chicken breasts, they need to technically eat the "whole chicken" (you can grind this or even buy it).

But yes, many ferrets do just fine on commercial ferret foods…just get a better one than 8 in 1…
