I have to analyze a classmates food intake and compare it to the food pyramid and they have protein shakes down. Does that fit into the food pyramid at all? As what?
Don’t put it in w/ meat like the other guy said. Chances are it’s whey protein which is DAIRY and if it’s mixed w. milk that’s obviously DAIRY too.
What food category does a protein shake fit in?
How much canned cat food should I feed my cats?
I have two cats. One is a year old, the other seems to be two.
I was wondering how much cat food they should get a day. (It is canned cat food)
I understand how the weight thing should work, but until I can find a accurate scale I’ve gotta go by holding-the-cat-and-guessing.
We had dry food, I don’t know if we’ll get it. Besides, I didn’t ask about what wet food causes, I asked about how much they should be getting.
Wow - so much bad advice!!!!
First off, if you went by what the manufacturers recommend on cat food cats your cat would be clinically obese. Even the best of foods list the amount to feed as nearly twice what it should be.
Secondly, contrary to all the "expert" comments, canned food is FAR healthier for your cat than wet food and doesn’t lead to all the problems that the "experts" say it does.
Thirdly, here’s a site that tells the TRUTH about why cats NEED canned food - http://www.littlebigcat.com/index.php?action=library&act=show&item=whycatsneedcannedfood
Fourthly, dry food does NOT clean the teeth http://www.littlebigcat.com/index.php?action=library&act=show&item=doesdryfoodcleantheteeth
I have four cats and I feed them the smaller cans of food so there’s never any waste. If I use the larger cans then I end up either putting too much on their plates or stick the rest in the fridge where I never remember to take it back out again - so into the trash it goes. My four cats split a small can twice a day and I also feed them dry food, Innova Evo, which is 50% protein and contains zero grain. With your two cats you could just feed them once a day and split one small can. If this is all you’re feeding them then I’d give them each half a can twice a day.
What are good foods if we are playing a guessing food game at my daughters party?
At my daughters birthday party we are playing a game where you are blindfolded but have to eat and guess the food that you are eating. I want the foods to be hard for them to guess but easy to find.
you have to pick foods that have similar taste or texture to other foods otherwise it will be easy to guess what the food is. Food ideas: different kinds of chocolate bar peices, different cheeses, cantelope and musk mellon, brocolli and califlower, an orange and a tangerine, fruit snack and a gusher, a collection of these foods would make for a pretty fun party game!
What is a healthy, inexpensive dog food for my dogs?
I have 5 dogs, and I have been feeding them Blue Buffalo canned dog foods along with Blue Buffalo dry foods. The food is rather expensive though, and I can no longer afford to pay so much for their food. I do not want to feed them a crappy low quality food with fillers and by-products, but I cannot afford to buy them the absolute healthiest of foods. What would be a good food to feed them that won’t break my bank?
Taste of the Wild
Origen
are two that I recommed. Though they seem expensive, you feed less of it to your dog.
If you want the healthy stuff, you’re gonna have to pay for it. May be find a home for one dog, and that will save you money.
What premium canned cat food is best for my cat?
It seems that my cat has been getting soft stools off and on for awhile now, but also gets normal ones too. So I guess i’m going to stick to one brand of premium wet food and stay away from store bought and human food treats. So since there are a ton of brands out there, what ones could you guys recommend that would be best for my kittie’s sensitive digestive system? By premium, I mean Innova, California Natural, etc.
I did take my cat to her vet, and she gave her medicine. But she told me to feed her soft food only.
There could be a reason for your cat’s soft stools besides food. Some of the problems that can result in soft stools are infection with Coccidia or Giardia, both protozoal parasites, inflammatory bowel disease and irritable bowel syndrome.
You should really bring the cat to the vet to rule out the many non-food reasons for your cat’s soft stools.
There are really a lot of premium options for you out there. You are probably going to need to experiment to see which foods agree with your cat though your experiment will prove inconclusive if the issue is not the food at all…
Some of the foods I feed my cats are Innova EVO both the regular one, the duck, and the venison; Wellness - all the varieties except the one with lobster but most frequently either the chicken, turkey, or chicken and herring; Natural Balance Ultra and the chicken and liver pate, a few of the Merrick’s varieities and others.
Since your cat may simply have an intolerance to grain any other these grain-free (some of the Natural Balance have a little rice) may be the answer. I suggest that you not only choose a grain-free food but you try only one protein source at a time for at least a week since it could be that too.
You could start with only Wellness chicken for a week or so and if all goes well you’ll know it isn’t chicken, and so on.
Or you could begin with one of the Natural Balance limited ingredient foods. These are foods that contain only one unusual protein source such as duck. The idea is that some cats may have developed a sensitivity to some proteins like chicken or beef from over-exposure to them.
Aside from that, you could try your cat on a raw diet. These can be very beneficial to cats with bowel problems. Google "raw diet cat IBD" to start.
But really you should start with a vet visit. You don’t want to spend months experimenting with different foods and find out the poor kitty has had Coccidia all along.
Where do you get your rabbit food from?
My last two rabbits died when I got my food from petsmart. The food was tested positive for mycotoxin poisoning which is a type of mold and both of my bunnies bled to deah. I’m getting a new rabbit tommorrow and need to know what type of food to get so that this doesn’t happen again. I was thinking that I should get manopro which is a type of food from tractor supply. I was planning on getting a 25 lbs bag but if any one knows any quality rabbit food then that would be helpful. Thanx!
I would highly recommend Blue Seal Show Hutch Delux, but it only comes in 50 lbs. If where you live doesn’t sell Blue Seal, you can always try to find Bunny-16 near your local pet store or online. That’s just my opinion. I used to feed my bunny both Bunny-16 and Blue Seal and when I took it to the vet, he’d always say he was a healthy bunny and it made me proud. My bunny died, though…
How can I send food to starving people in Africa?
I want to help, but I don’t want to give money. I want to buy food and send the food. Are there charities that will pick up my food for me, or is there a charity that I can send food to?
Who is going to pay the costs of shipping the food to Africa? And do you realize that, by donating food, you are taking money from poor farmers and food stall sellers who are desperately trying to make a living in Africa?
It’s too expensive to gather and transport food from individual donors outside of a country — it’s much more cost-effective and beneficial to the community to buy the food *in the country* and distribute it to those in need. It’s even MORE beneficial to pay for experts to train food growers there to grow more and better food.
Some organizations, like CARE international, are even refusing large food donations from governments, because of how much it hurts the local economies, and is asking governments to, instead, purchase LOCAL food in Africa (or elsewhere) to feed the LOCAL community.
You can gather food and donate it locally, to your local food shelter.
What type of food should I feed a Geriatric Shetland Sheepdog?
I have a geriatric Shetland Sheepdog with a very low appetite. Do you have any idea what type of food I might try feeding the dog? She use to eat canned dog food, but will hardly eat now.

Is a school food provider allowed to become a monopoly inside a school?
Our school food provider has been yearly reducing food quality and raising food prices. On the foods that they can’t lower quality, they raise prices faster. Cans of soda there are 1.25$, and that is one of the cheaper things. Three pieces of chicken about the size of the space between your pointer and thumb if you make a circle are $4.75. On top of that the lunch program doesn’t allow other competition, even vending machines. We can’t even order food from outside of the school. Is this allowed?
The food service is seperate from the school. They are an outside food service company that have to bid for the job every year. When bidding, the company has to submit a menu and prices. If the food service is charging crazy prices, the school knows about it. If they are there, then they won the contract and there prices are better than anyone else who bid most likely. Changing prices mid-school year is a no-no. I would bring your own lunch, They cant stop you from doing that. $1.25 is alittle high for a school, but not crazy. You are paying for refrigeration, convienence….
