What cat food is good for indoor senior cat with a sensitive stomach?

Posted by admin on September 30th, 2009 and filed under food get | 5 Comments »

My cat, who is 18 years old, has recently developed quite the sensitive stomach. He has an upset tummy nearly every day, & I think it’s probably his food. I’m trying to find one that fits all 3 qualifications, but I can’t seem to find a cat food for senior and sensitive stomach. He’s been eating Iams indoor senior formula, and I’m considering switching him to Nutro Senior, because it says it’s easy to digest. Has anyone else used Nutro, or have any suggestions for a good brand of senior sensitive stomach food?

Think about this…in the wild, are there special mice for senior cats? Nope. Why then should a senior cat need special food? A senior cat (and cats of any age) should eat a species appropriate diet to promote the best health. By species appropriate, I mean a canned food that does not have grains and by-products. These are premium foods, and they cost a little more. However, in the long run you will save all that money and more because you won’t have so many vet bills. I won’t endorse one brand over another, but some of the good ones are Wellness, Merrick, and Natural Balance.

Good luck with your kitty. I hope his tummy feels better soon.

My 8 week old puppy will only eat my 3 year old bulldog’s adult food. What can I do?

I have an 8 week old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel / Mini Poodle Mix and she won’t eat her puppy food. She will only eat my 3 year old Bulldog’s adult food. My bulldog’s food is Orijen Ocean Formula and the puppy food I got her is the Orijen puppy food.

No, there is a difference between adult and puppy food, puppy food has more protein. Feed them either at separate times or in separate rooms.

How soon after vomiting/fever is it ok to offer food/water?

Posted by admin on September 30th, 2009 and filed under food offers | 9 Comments »

My child is 4 and he was vomiting yesterday and in the night. This morning he is running a fever. Should I offer him light food and water or wait until fever is gone?

No, get him some liquid- if you have pedilite, or Gatorade that would be best- Now if he vomits it up, then wait for an hour- try again- If he has the vomiting flu- and you give him fluids he will vomit- if it is a fever, then he will get dehydrated with out liquids. If he starts having the runs, push the liquids more as long as he doesn’t vomit. I would lay off food for a while. When he feels up to it, just bananas and toast- no soup, maybe broth.

Does anyone know if the company that makes Lexapro offers a program for free meds?

My perscription insurance ran out in January. I’ve contacted The Free Medicine Program - even sent in my money - but haven’t heard back. I’ve tired calling, even an e-mail but nothing.
So anyway, I’ve checked the web and can’t find if Lexapro offers free medicine.

Check out this website that will take you to the form to register for Forrest Laboratory’s Patient Assistant Program (PAP).

What is the best site to get free stuff doing surveys?

Posted by admin on September 30th, 2009 and filed under free stuff | 16 Comments »

I’m looking for people who have actually had experience doing surveys and getting free stuff.
Preferably I’m also looking for sites that are quick, free, and easy to do. Thanx

There are many "legit" sites out there, but most send very few surveys so you cant redeem prizes very often. Here is a site that has daily surveys. You just log into the site and click on one of the surveys and take it. I have been using it for a couple weeks and have already cashed out a couple times. Good luck!

This one pays by Paypal or by gift cards, your choice. Has daily surveys. You only need to make $1 to be able to cash out. Has a few surveys to take every day

What are at least 3 recipes for *an easy* typical French dinner?

Posted by admin on September 30th, 2009 and filed under french recipes | 1 Comment »

I am doing a project for my French class, and I need to make at least 3 recipes of a typical French dinner. I would like them to be as easy as possible. If you have a recipe from anywhere online…can i have the name of the website that it comes from?
***how easy is risotto?***
(not risotto, but sort of a braised rice or pilaf)

This Ratatouille recipe is really easy, just a lot of chopping, and a long baking time

French crepes are a classic

It’s not the easier recipe but probably the best known Chicken Cordon Blue. You can substitute the white wine with chicken broth if you want.

Serves 6

Gourmet French Fries

The gourmet’s trick to french fries that are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside is double-frying them.

6 large potatoes (Idaho or Russet is a good choice)
Oil for deep frying (Vegetable or Peanut)
Ice water (optional)

# Cut the potatoes into fries about 3/8" thick. (Thin fries soak up too much oil.) You can peel the potatoes, if you like, but it’s not necessary.

# Optional: Soak the cut fries in ice water for about 30 minutes. This step removes a lot of the starch, making them less sticky when frying. Pat the soaked fries dry with a paper towel before frying.

# In a frying pan or deep fryer, heat the oil to 325°. Fry small batches of the fries for about 3 minutes; they will be softened but not browned. Remove them from the oil and let them rest, or sweat, on paper towels for at least half an hour, up to 2 hours. (A great make-ahead step.)

# When you’re ready, reheat the oil to 375°. Cook the fries a second time until golden brown, 4-6 minutes. Drain again on paper towels, transfer to a serving dish, and season with one of the gourmet seasoning recipes below while they are still warm and moist.

Should I start feeding my cat food formulated for senior cats?

Posted by admin on September 30th, 2009 and filed under food | 4 Comments »

Hello,

I have a 7 year old, neutered male cat. Should I start feeding him senior formulated cat food? I also have a 4 year old female. She would be too young to eat senior food. I free feed them by putting their daily amount of food in their bowls and leaving it out all day. So, would it make a difference if I feed him senior food? He will probably snack on her food, and she on his.

Thank you.

I really wouldn’t worry at this stage. If something arises during the annual vet trips, then it can be addressed.

My cats range from over 141/2 years to slightly over 2 years in age. They all get the same food, and they are all doing fine.

When I was at home we had a cat that lived to be over 23 years, and he didn’t have any different diet than when he was young.
